The Monday Herd | Get up and Get Out

“Nobody climbs mountains for scientific reasons. Science is used to raise money for the expeditions, but you really climb for the hell of it. “

-Sir Edmund Hillary.-

Yesterday, was the first true day I’ve had off all season long.   It was glorious.

And I went hiking, with Tom, Victoria and Tech.

There is nothing like unplugging and just enjoying the non-electronic.

Have a rad Monday!

London | Dog Photography

I thought I knew a well trained dog.

I also thought I knew the best locations in Connecticut to photograph a dog.

I was corrected twice in one day.

London is a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever.  This was the first time I had ever come across a NSDTR and honestly, the first time I had heard of one.

Jason and Kelli pretty much schooled me in the ways of tolling as fast as they could in our session and I had no idea how much time and effort goes into training a dog to compete in national competitions.  It’s quiet the investment and with my limited knowledge of the sport, I can’t image there is a dog that would have the skill to out perform London.  If there is I don’t think I would want to meet him because honestly, my mind was blown when I saw how obedient London was.

Seriously, it was awesome.

If you have any interest in tolling or perhaps you just want to learn more about the breed you can check out The Toller, which is run by Jason.

Onto the visual stimulus. . . .

The Thursday Herd | Hurricane Sandy

So living in Stamford we didn’t get the full brunt of hurricane Sandy but we still got some serious flooding.

These are all from Monday afternoon.

Every Stamford bus was moved across the street from us:

These are from Monday night, Stamford is far down the sound and are a bit more protected.

Police were pretty diligent at keeping people away from the really hard hit areas, which is expected so we didn’t get too many aftermath images.

Everything is back to normal here, except for the last bit of flooding, downed trees and spotty power loss.  We got lucky.
